Locks Heath pupils rode on Victorian style bikes – some more than 170 years old – as part of a project on that period of history.
Children at Locks Heath Junior School heard about the mechanics of the bikes built during the reign of Queen Victoria, which began in 1837 until her death in 1901.
As part of an annual project on the Victorians, the pupils got to see and pedal what people of that era would have used – including Penny Farthings, a hobby horse and a tricycle.
Teacher Tammy Williams said: “It was a great opportunity for the children to see some of the historical artefacts.
“Our topic was on the Victorians so it was a fantastic way to bring them in for the children and let the children relive history.
“Every child got to have a go on either the penny farthing or the tricycle.”
